So with today’s story writing prompt on Twitter:
And with a funny conversation with @SheWhoShipsCS on Twitter yesterday that came from a verbal typo and evolved into a random story idea that she insisted I must write. I got inspired to jot down a few words. What do you think? Should I turn this into a full-fledged Sci-Fi story? (I admittedly haven’t written anything Sci-Fi in ages, I’ve been more down the fantasy rabbit hole). Leave me a yes or no below.
If the image isn’t working, here’s the text:
“Don’t you understand, they’re going to kill you!” Teven grabbed Darnia’s arm and he was not gentle about it. He quickly let go when the red in her eyes spread. Not many races gave such a clear warning when their anger had reached dangerous levels, Darnia’s did.
“And do I not deserve death for what I have done? Do I not deserve death for what I did not do? My inaction led to millions of deaths. I am just as complicit in my parents’ murders. What they did to your planet…”
“Was not your doing! You can go and be free now. If you return with me you will die and I would rather never see you again and know you are alive than have a few more days with you and watch your execution. And I would have to watch.” Teven was begging her. He was king now but he was willing to get down on his knees and beg if it would mean she saw reason.
“I cannot run. I cannot live with myself and cowardice. Please, Teven. I must do this. It does not mean I do not want to live for you, it does not mean I do not love you. In all honesty, this has nothing to do with you. If you really love me, let me finally find my courage.” Her eyes had returned to their normal colour now and she spoke without anger. This was her choice and she was making it.
Teven hung his head. “I will try to stop the execution.”
“And if you cannot. Be there for me and let your face be the last thing I see.” Darnia’s people could not cry but her body shook as if she wept. Teven cried enough tears for the both of them. He nodded his head and would argue no more with her about it. He would still try to save her, he had to have hope that his people were not as bloodthirsty as the invaders who had been driven from their planet.
