Have you been making magical potions?
Did you know you can make magical potions? It can be as easy as putting a tea bag in a cup. That’s what I did today. I made green tea and it’s a magical potion because of the power of intention.
Let me paint you a picture.
She sat cross-legged in her chair. She had made a cup of tea in her favourite mug. It was red on the outside and white on the inside. On one side was a picture of one of her first idols. Princess Leia. On the other side was writing in big bold white letters. “Don’t mess with a princess.” Inside the cup was a floating tea bag that probably should have been taken out already, it was floating in a reddish coloured liquid. Berry flavoured green tea. Her favourite. The cup sat between her two hands, warming them. She closed her eyes and inhaled the pleasing scent of the tea and thought about what she needed from her magical potion today. Firstly, she needed it to help her keep loving herself. She needed it to make her strong. She needed it to make her believe.
So, she lifted the mug to her lips and took a sip. She felt the warmth as she swallowed. She felt the rush of energy as she sat up straighter and told herself she was strong, she was capable, she could do this.
It was as simple as that.
There is real magic in the power of intention. It doesn’t matter that I wasn’t sipping some drink of herbs and eye of newt, the magic was in what I intended to achieve. The magic was in the ritual of taking a sip and telling the universe and myself what I needed at that moment. The magic was in believing that it would work.
Which is, in fact, the hardest part of weaving magic in this world, believing we can change our world. Believing in ourselves.
It’s hard, oh gods, it can be the most difficult thing in the world to believe in ourselves. But some days it can happen and be found in the simple act of sipping a mug of warm tea.
Magic is as easy, and as hard as that.
