To Vlog or Not to Vlog?
I might be slightly crazy but I have made a Youtube channel and I’m going to take my video/vlog ways over there. I’ve done two videos so far on Facebook.
The first was a live video, and yes, my finger and the microphone area were far too friendly. Whoops, but I did learn from it. I learned where not to put finger anyway.
Today we tried a computer webcam vlog. I think it went a lot better for picture and sound.
I’m still getting used to public speaking again. I used to do it fairly often, I was on the school debate team, I took youth services at church, I did all kinds of things that involved standing in front of people and talking. Back then I always felt nervous but now it’s far more than just stage fright. On such a public stage, it’s easy to be afraid of what total strangers might say, because, as we’ve all seen, when people can hide behind the anonymity of the screen they can be downright cruel for no reason.
But I’m not going to let that get to me. People can be cruel, but they don’t matter. Cruel people who hurt other people don’t matter. I just need to remind myself of that if any of those little goblins come at me.
So yes, I have created a Youtube channel today. The address is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoNM6iXi2BEJXyaayKfe1xQ
To get my own named channel I think I need to get 100 subscribers and upload so many videos, that kind of thing. So maybe in the future, I’ll be able to have the personalised URL but until then, I’m a bunch of letters and numbers.
I’m going to try and do a video a week. Vlog on writing, on me, on anything else. I might also do some readings of what I’m writing or maybe some of poetry. We shall see.
It’s all rather exciting.
I have a new novelette out, Thief in the Night introduces us to new City of the Wiccad characters in their own little origin story. There is crime, there is naughtiness. And there is one amazing woman who has no idea how much more there is to her beyond the skilled con-woman. You can get it on Amazon currently, and it will be on Smashwords soon to head out to Barnes and Nobles and iBooks. Once that happens I will update with links.
Until next time, be faebulous, be Wiccad.
